1-Piece Superglide Transmission

Case with Internal Liner.

 

This is simply the best 1-piece Powerglide transmission case available. You will not find another case with a better combination of strength, simplicity, light weight, and unsurpassed quality in casting and machining. Here's why:

  • No bulky external shield required because the safety liner insert makes it SFI 4.1 Certified*.

  • No flexplate shield required because our bellhousing is SFI 30.1 Certified*.

  • Uses all stock and aftermarket internals; no oddball parts.

  • Bellhousing is part of the case just like the Powerglide so all machining alignment remains perfect.

  • Made by a permanent mould process from heat treated aircraft grade aluminium. This process is stronger, more ductile, and more accurate than competitors' brittle sand castings.

  • Oil pan flanges are thickened to stiffen case. Beefed up oil pump area prevents front case distortion under high horsepower. Minimizes flexing which causes gear misalignment and breakage. This case does not leak!

  • All the same features of our original Reid Racing Superglide listed above.

  • Special high speed caged roller bearing replaces the OEM bushing to enhance long life and ensure the smoothest operation.

  • A perfect match to aftermarket roller bearing governor support housings or roller  bearing shorty housings.

  • The bearing bore is machined at the same time as the hub and reverse piston bore ensuring perfect alignment within one thousandth of and inch

  • Retains both 30.1 and 4.1 SFI certifications.

2-piece Superglide Transmission Case

 

Reid Racing's highly-anticipated 2-piece Superglide transmission case is finally here!

 

Starting with a time proven 1-piece Superglide, Reid Racing engineers decided against the "cut it in half" approach and specifically designed this case to be used ass a 2-piece unit. The full 360 degree reinforced mounting flange provides the needed rigidity and stiffness, while extra thickness is critical areas adds strength to the rear of the case and eliminates the need for an internal liner. Unlike our sand-cast competitors, our permanent mould casting process is used for extremely accurate, tough porosity-free cases. Adapter bellhousings and flexplates are available for most popular engine combinations; See Below.

Chevrolet Bellhousing

 

Chevrolet bellhousing for the Reid Racing 2-piece Superglide case fits all 90 degree V8's and the 4.3 litre V6. Cast from high-strength 6061 T6 aluminium and heat treated for additional toughness, the bellhousing passes the stringent SFI 30.1 Certification* and is approved with no external shields required.

The bell features an open bottom for easy converter access, a reduced diameter for better floorboard clearance, and a contoured mounting flange to properly match the rear of the engine block. No special flexplate is required, but a high-end Reid Racing flexplate part # FP001 is also available.

Chevrolet Flexplate

 

The Reid Racing 1-piece billet steel flexplate for Chevrolet small block and big block engines is thicker than stock, has machined holes allowing for proper flex, is plated for rust protection, and the 168 ring gear teeth are hobbed directly into the plate. Being completely CNC machined makes the flattest and most concentric part available, and the dual Powerglide/ Turbo 400 bolt pattern is predrilled for 7/16" bolts to fit most racing torque converters.

Small Block FORD Bellhousing

 

Small block Ford bellhousing for the Reid Racing 2-piece Superglide axe fits 1966 and later 289-302-351C-351W-5.0L and 5.8L engines. Cast from high-strength 6061 T6 aluminium and heat treated for additional toughness, the bellhousing passes the stringent SFI 30.1 Certification* and is approved with no external shields required. The bell features and open bottom for easy converter access, and reduced diameter for better floorboard clearance, and a contoured mounting flange to properly match the rear of the engine block. When used with a Reid Racing Flexplate par # FP010 available below, these bellhousings allow for direct fir to the engines with no spacers or adapters needed. Designed for use with a 164 tooth flexplate, stock style starters are used in the factory location.

Small Block FORD Adapter Flexplate

 

The innovative, patent-pending Reid Racing adapter flexplate for small block Fords eliminates the need for a separate crank adapter by combining the flexplate, crank adapter, converter pilot and ring gear into a single piece of billet steel. This creates a truly bolt-on part. The flexplate bolts directly to the Ford crank, converts to use a standard Powerglide converter, then back to a Ford 164 tooth ring gear size so a stock starter can be used. The flexplate is thicker than stock, has machined holes allowing for proper flex, is plated for rust protection, and the ring gear teeth are hobbed directly into the plate. Being completely CNC machined makes the flattest and most concentric part available, and the dual Powerglide / Turbo 400 bolt pattern is predrilled for 7/16" bolts to fit most racing torque converters. Buick/Olds/Pontiac bellhousing for the Reid Racing 2-piece Superglide is not a dual-pattern bell, which allows for a perfect fit to all Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac V8's without unused bolt holes and awkward castings. Cast from high-strength 6061 T6 aluminium and heat treated for additional toughness, the bellhousing passes the stringent SFI 30.1 Certification* and is approved with no external shields required. The bell features an open bottom for easy converter access, a reduced diameter for better floorboard clearance, and a contoured mounting flange to properly match the rear of the engine block. Starter pockets on both sides allow for driver or passenger side starter locations. No special flexplate is required.

Big Block MOPAR Adapter Flexplates

 

The innovative, patent-pending Reid Racing adapter flexplate for Big Block Chryslers eliminates the need for a separate crank adapter by combining the flexplate, crank adapter, converter pilot and ring gear into a single piece of billet steel. This creates a truly bolt-on part. The flexplate bolts directly to the Chrysler crank, converts to use a standard Powerglide converter, then back to Mopar 130 tooth ring gear size so a stock starter can be used. The flexplate is thicker than stock, has machined holes allowing for proper flex, is plated for rust protection, and the ring gear teeth are hobbed directly into the plate. Being completely CNC machined makes the flattest and most concentric part available, and the 6 bolt Powerglide pattern (no Turbo 400 pattern) is predrilled for 7/16" bolts to fit most racing torque converters. 8 bolt pattern is also available for Hemi cranks. SFI 29.1 Approved* for competition use. Uses ARP part # 350-2808 crankshaft bolts (for 6 bolt cranks) or ARP part # 200-2804 crankshaft bolts (for 8 bolt cranks), available separately.

* A note about SFI Certifications

SFI specifications provide procedures, test evaluations, and standards that are intended only as minimum guidelines for construction and evaluation of products. Certification means that the manufacturer certifies that their product meets the minimum standards specified by SFI. It is not a guarantee of racetrack performance and it relates only to the exact part that the specification addresses. For example, a transmission meeting the SFI 30.1 flexplate shield specification means that the flexplate shield portion of the transmission has successfully passed the SFI recommended testing and would have nothing to do with a torque converter failure.
